¡ Carolina Herrera !

Image
Just watched a video interview with her saying (in castellano) that music was a very important aspect of her 2013 spring line because it was inspired by Beethoven's sonata for piano and violin. "It was part of the creation of the whole collection, which is a collection with a touch of the 1940s for 2013." Also... she is such a cute abuelita. Can you imagine if your abuelita were Carolina Herrera? Where do I sign up? PS: I'm at Lincoln Center every morning as the hungover models are arriving (sprinting) to start getting done up for 10 AM shows.  Swoon.

old propho smith by mapplethorpe Also...Mick Jagger had this to say about Patti Smith:  "I think it's crap! I think she's so awful...she's full of rubbish, she's full of words and crap. I mean, she's a poseur of the worst kind, intellectual bullshit, trying to be a street girl when she doesn't seem to me to be one, I mean, everything...a useless guitar player, a bad singer, not attractive. She's got her heart in the right place but she's such a POSER! She's not really together musically, she's...all right."

Ren. Or Stimpy. Can't remember which is which.

This article  is kind of mediocre, except for this one section, which I will excerpt below. BLOG BROS Motherfucker, nobody wants to hear Alt-J on their birthday. Not even members of Alt-J want to hear Alt-J on their birthday. Yet there's always some guy (never a girl) who wants to hear "just one song" at a party. The reason he wants to hear this song is because he is under the mistaken impression that this will make him look cool. He reckons that people's ears will prick up like that bit when they play the Beta Band in  High Fidelity , that the girls and cooler guys will come rushing to him and ask, "Just what  IS  this magical song you've parachuted into my life!?" And he will calmly reply: "Alt-J," with the unmistakable confidence of a man who knows what the fuck he's talking about. Oh, how wrong he is. This man is only ever answered with the knees of the dancers stiffening up in confusion, people will suddenly remember they nee

Bob Dylan: Tempest

Rolling Stone gave 5/5 stars to Dylan's latest effort .  I have yet to listen, but the cover looks to be a good start: He had me at Bernini.

Time to Take up the Piano Again

From an article about the demise of the New York City Opera - "That sort of stability does not come cheap. New York Philharmonic musicians’ salaries start at $134,940. A Lincoln Center stagehand can make nearly $330,000. The Philadelphia Orchestra, which is seeking bankruptcy protection, is staring at $44.8 million in unfunded pension liabilities. While City Opera pays no rent on the David H. Koch Theater, it has to lay out $4.5 million a year just to keep the facility running."
