VENI VIDI VICI
i feel SO smiley and satisfied with myself right now. is this what it's like for certain guys whenever they succeed in "convincing" a girl to date them? the thirst of the hunt, the thrill of the catch? the transcendence of conversion? of conquest?

I have no idea in what neighborhood I'll end up. but I'm young and poor, so it'll probably be shittyIt's hard to describe all that the Agency does without sounding vague. Basically, we act as a unifying network for educators in ALL types of Jewish institutions - congregations, JCCs, day schools, independent programs, preschools, day cares, you name it. We facilitate all sorts of conferences and programs pertaining to educators who work in these various institutions and age-groups. And all this, in the name of promoting "Jewish engagement" and pioneering new educational philosophies within the Jewish context. For example, we helped create the first Jewish montessori program. We do lots of work with teens, encouraging them to question and reflect on their Jewish identity. My favorite thing about this organization is that it is NOT affiliated with one specific denomination. Instead, you have a total mix of orthodox ashkenaz people, secular israelis, and everything in between. My colleagues are pretty evenly distributed in terms of age, gender and degree of religious observance - and yet everyone works in harmony and operates with a baseline of respect. The effect is that you really stop paying attention to people's clothing, who is or isn't wearing a yamulke, etc. When we're talking about Jews, who love to hate each other and nitpick on trivia, this harmonic atmosphere is no small achievement. I've never experienced anything like it in the Jewish world, and as a result I am, cautiously, becoming optimistic about people's ability to stop tripping over stuff that doesn't matter in order to focus on changing the things that do matter. Everyone in the office seems to agree that pursuing social justice + preserving human dignity are THE things that matter most...that learning, honoring and living by such values are the ultimate goal of any "Jewish" education.well, you probably got more of an answer than you asked for!let's revisit this topic in September, once I'm out of the honeymoon phase with this job, and I fear you might get a different picture of BJE...XoOn Wed, Jun 5, 2013 at 12:32 PM, <anniesea712@aol.com> wrote:so what does the board of jewish edu do and what is your job? and after you get yr apt will it have an extra bed for an old lady visiting nyc?-----Original Message-----

- Vus titzuch?
- President Obama calls the head of the CIA and asks, "How come the
- Jews know everything before we do?"
- The CIA chief says, "The Jews have this expression, 'Vus titzuch?'
- The President asks, "What's that mean?"
- "Well, Mr. President," replies the CIA chief, "It's a Yiddish
- expression which roughly translates to 'what's happening?' They
- just ask each other and they know everything."
- The President decides to go undercover to determine if this is true.
- He gets dressed up as an Orthodox Jew and is
- secretly flown in an unmarked plane to New York, picked up in an
- unmarked car and dropped off in Brooklyn's most
- Jewish, orthodox neighborhood.
- Soon, a little old man comes shuffling along. The President stops him
- and whispers, "Vus titzuch?"
- The old guy whispers back, "Obama's in Brooklyn!"
